Hello and thank you for clicking in for a visit. Shall we make this the starting point for a collaborative real estate experience?
My name is Barbara, which means “foreign woman” in Latin, but I prefer the notion of Saint Barbara as protector against fire and lightning, and patron saint of architects, stonemasons and fortifications! I do have a propensity to protect my clients and I have a passion for buildings and design.
My builder husband John and I moved to the Georgian Triangle in 1980 – our adult lives have been spent thriving in this stunning natural environment: raising our two boys to men, renovating a century home (our first foray), building four homes from our own designs with our own hands, and remodelling two Collingwood condos in between a couple of the houses! John has had a successful career as a custom home builder and crafty finisher – Robbie and Bennett are developing their home renovation skills with guidance from their Dad.
As you can see, houses are us! Segueing into real estate brokerage was a natural step. I earned my licence in 1998, became partner in Prudential On The Harbour Real Estate in 1999, earned my Broker’s licence in 2001 and became Broker of Record in 2003. Jumped right into the deep end! Since April 2012, I have been affiliated with Royal LePage Trinity Realty as a Broker, continuing to work with the most wonderful people, either finding the perfect property for them and with them, or helping them market and sell their property in order to move on to the next stage in their lives. I continually educate myself, expand my horizons and learn, learn, learn. Life long learning and respectful sharing of truths are two convictions I adhere to.
I have worked with all ages, from young first time buyers to elders selling the family home as they transition from independence to a supported living environment. There are joys and challenges in each and every move: my skills are applied throughout the process to ensure the best possible outcome.
People skills are foremost but it is also critically important to keep up with technological changes – with this website, my clients, clients to be and I can communicate and share relevant information. And we can do it anywhere in the world there is an internet connection! This serves to enhance the face-to-face communications.
I think that’s enough for now! I may try my hand at blogging, when I know I’ve something of value to share … so check in now and then, or join me on facebook!
Until later, Barbara Lynne McCowan
